Big Timber maple sugar is made from only 100% Pure Big Timber Maple Syrup. Nothing else added. Can be used as a sweetener for coffee, tea, cream of wheat, oatmeal, or sprinkled on top of freshly popped pop corn. Use it in baking and glazes to capture the unique taste and sweetness of maple without the liquid. Use 3/4 cup of our granulated maple sugar to replace 1 cup cane sugar.
Since 1883, the Wolf family has been cultivating the Century Farm in Bankston, Iowa. The vast timber ground eventually became known to the community as “The Big Timber”. What started as a hobby 20 years ago has grown into a family business focused on bringing you quality maple products, from their family to all of ours. In 2020 their maple syrup became certified organic.
Our Sugar Bush is made up of about 50% Sugar Maples that are tapped every spring. Prime maple season occurs when temperatures are above freezing during the day and below freezing at night. Sap is collected, concentrated using reverse osmosis, and boiled down to an exact sugar content. No artificial ingredients are ever added to their syrup! It's then filtered, bottled, and delivered for our enjoyment! In addition to producing 100% sustainably sourced products, Big Timber Maple focuses on forestry practices that will preserve the ecosystem for future generations. Along with sugar maples, The Big Timber is made up of oak, walnut, cherry, and many other species that provide diversity for wildlife. In 2017, the Wolf family was awarded “Tree Farmer of the Year” by Iowa State University for outstanding forestry practices.
